TASK 1:Mine Tailings Recovery
Recovery and transport of mine tailings in a slurry; treatment of the tailings; feasible recovery of the valuable metals; and designing a system to recover the water from the slurry for reuse in the transport and treatment system.
TASK 2:Concrete-Slab D&D
Decontamination and decommission process of a concrete facility contaminated with nitric acid and plutonium. Demonstration of the process using a concrete slab and simulant.
TASK 3:Contaminated Sludge
Innovative treatment for remediation of radionuclide contaminated sludge currently contained in polyethylene bags, within 55 gallon drums. The sludge is a mixture of organic liquids, VOCs, calcium silicate, and oils.
TASK 4: In-tank real-time sensor/monitor
Sensor(s) to measure the settling parameters in a water slurry process vessel containing various weight percents of solids and particles. The weight percent of solids varies from 0%-30%, and particle size from 1-1000 microns. The measurements are: 1) slurry density profile; 2) solids/liquids interface level; 3) settling rate (rate of density change).
TASK HS:
Mine tailings
Remediate mine tailings and extract valuable materials while recycling water used for the process.
